Welcome to Music Ranch USA

Music Ranch USA is a place and a corporation both devoted to family entertainment in a warm friendly environment.  Its mainstay has been traditional country music, but it welcomes other kinds of music in a variety of performances, all meeting its standards of quality, decency and respect for all.

As a building, it enjoys probably the only theater in the region built for a country music show, and by a family involved in jamborees. It was completed in 1993, along with a Chow Hall, a restored historical structure that originally was filled with craft booths, and now is a restaurant serving our theater patrons.
The theater has nearly 500 padded seats, a concession stand,  free parking in a lot to the rear and a city lot nearby, both lighted and patrolled.  Our Chow Hall is licensed for 60 and always draws an excellent rating in Health District inspections. All prices are tax inclusive!

As a corporation it is owned by more than 60 stockholders, and operated by a general manager, Gene Snawder, under the direction of a board of directors,  and assisted by volunteers.

In a special election April 28, 2007, Dr. Pamela Stephens, superintendent of West Point School, was chosen as chairman of the board replacing Rube Yelvington, who resigned for health reasons.

The concession stand and Chow Hall restaurant continue to be operated by the Music Ranch, Inc. volunteers.

Ill wind overcome in West Point

We here in West Point didn't have a hurricane, not even a tornado, but we had one monster wind storm Sunday, Sept. 14. The same wind pattern swept across Louisville and all of Jefferson County, and lots of Hardin County. Hundreds of thousands of families and businesses were without electricity as a result, and as of 9/21, many still are.

Trees throughout West Point were shattered, but the city and county did a great job of cleaning up the mess.

We lost our internet and phone service for a week -- seemed like a month.

Chow Hall plans luau Sept. 27

Chow Hall diners will discover smell-good pineapple and coconut food odors as they wrap up the extended summer season with a Hawaiian Luau night Sept. 27.

Diners will be offered leis and an opportunity to wear those Hawaiian shirts that have been hanging in the closets, and to listen to some Hawaiian CDs while they enjoy their dinners or sandwiches and desserts.

The Chow Hall begins serving at 5 p.m. and stops at 7 -- in time for the volunteer table servers to get to the great Kevin Grissom show at 7:30.

It also will be a night contributing to the dollars for gasoline drawing at midshow Sept. 27 in the theater. Diners get a chance ticket for each dollar spent in the Chow Hall each Sept. night through Sept. 27. The winner receives $50 toward his gasoline bill -- or wherever he needs $50 the most.

Grissom schedules Michael Twitty Friday show Nov. 2

Michael Twitty is scheduled to perform at Grissom's Music Ranch theater Friday Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.

Michael's home page has the following to say about the son of Conway Twitty:

Country music cherishes family tradition and Michael Twitty is an integral part of that great heritage. He is the oldest son of rock and country legend Conway Twitty. Conway's grandson Tre also is to perform.

Born Nov. 25 in Helena Arkansas, Michael is not only carrying on his father's celebrated legacy, he is making a mark of his own.

Old friends at Chow Hall and Concession Stand

Music Ranch Inc. welcomes the crowds to Kevin Grissom's Music Ranch USA theater to hear Kevin, his country Cookin Band, and more guests that we ever utilized. The new arrangement is bringing our previous "regulars" great shows and a stage packed full of quality performers.

Many familiar faces from years back are in the theater each Saturday, and hundreds of new faces. We are privileged to serve all at our concession stand, operated by Vernon Curl as always, and in our Chow Hall, operated by Nancy Yelvington, cook Vicky and the familiar volunteer attendants from our ranks of stockholders and loyal fans.

Near sell-out for Grissom at Music Ranch

Kevin Grissom and the Country Cookin' Band just about filled up the Music Ranch theater with their first show Saturday July 21. And the parking lots were full. The band and the sound were flawless.

Not everything was perfect -- a first night never is. The ticket window lines -- and the wait -- were too long. And yes, we really ran out of food in the Chow Hall Restaurant. Both problems will be corrected for the show July 28.

Meanwhile, Grissom's managers Henry and Barbara Barnes and Music Ranch Inc.'s Rube Yelvington carried the message of the changes in West Point at a business fair "up the road (Dixie Hwy) Tuesday July 24 in Pleasant Ridge Park. Our literature included a picture of the long ticket window line last Saturday.

Narvel show fitting last for Music Ranch owners

When is will Narvel Felts be back?”

That question was asked countless times after Saturday night’s “final show” by we Music Ranch’s founding operators.

We promise, his health permitting, Narvel will be back in 2008. Either Kevin Grissom, Music Ranch’s new operator/producer, will schedule him or we will as a special show on some time other than a Saturday.

Many of those in the audience Saturday night had never heard Narvel, and became instant fans. Fans from Missouri, Indiana, Tennessee and Minnesota as well as Kentucky will be back whenever Narvel is here.
